To Do List/Allocation of Energies

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Ok, so having sorted through my comments in moderation (90% of which were spam) I realized a few things need to be done.

School/School Projects:  So this is ovbiously my first priority.  I’ve got classes and projects to work on but this is only part of the stuff I’ve got on my plate right now.

Microsoft Student Partner: Yes, this could go under school but no, I’ll segment this below.  On 2/25 we’ve got a talk on using .NET to create Facebook applications.  No, I’m not a big Facebook fan, but it is a required talk.

Blog: Yes, having gone through these comments I’m finding that I do still get a bit of a following which is a good thing.  I’ll allocate some time an energy to getting this blog back on its feet and growing my readership again.  I think my topics will be a big more broadly covering tech topics.  Also I’d like to reconfigure my categories to something with more broad topics.  Also I’ll be pinging some friends looking for some linkbacks :-)   SEO increase and better PR hopefully.  :-)

So I guess I’m back?

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

I’d been doing some writing for another tech blog for a few months now.  The owner had decided to sell the site so now I can focus my writing energies on this blog…  Well that’s assuming I can continue to make time for it.

I’m pretty busy these days between finishing up my last semester of college, working on my senior project, and working.  Geez!  Oh well, I guess that’s life.  More updates soon!

Ok, there’s not much to say.  The new Indiana Jones Trailer is out.

If this doesn’t make you excited, you must be dead.

ASP.NET AJAX and IE7!

So i’m a Microsoft Student partner. i work at a microsoft gold partner software consulting firm. i’m coding in Microsoft .NET, testing out ASP.NET AJAX code….. but i’m not an IE7 user. I use Firefox. It was testing in IE7 by default from Visual Studio 2005. For an hour it wasn’t running right.  By “right” i mean stuff just was not loading where it should as determined by design view.  I put the test address in Firefox and everything looked just fine and dandy.

After a bit of googling on a hunch, Javascript was turned off.  So I had to be all ninja-ish and remember how to get the file, edit, tools,  panels back up (F10 for those who are wondering).  Then I manage to find my way through the labryinth of options to the Javascript option which I found out is disabled by default!

By enabling Javascript the page worked like a charm.  That whole process to find that one little issue, that really grinds my gears!
